Library and Learning Services

Academic services

The Academic Librarians team provide dedicated subject related support for taught students and teaching staff to make the most of library services in each subject area.

They liaise directly with schools on topics from collection development to reading and resource lists and participate in education and student staff committees. They also provide one-to-one guidance and support for students by email and appointments in the Centre for Academic Achievement.

Each school is directly supported by a librarian, and you can contact them by email at librarians@le.ac.uk.

The academic librarians also offer in-curriculum teaching sessions which can be arranged between module convenors and the relevant librarian. Topics often covered include information literacy themes such the discovery and evaluation of research resources and referencing. Our teaching continues to develop in line with the changing academic landscape, and librarian teaching is also offered to support the University’s research inspired education strategic theme on: identifying and searching for more diverse and inclusive resources; and developing skills in algorithmic literacy in relation to information searching by corroborating and critically engaging with artificial intelligence tools.
